Today is the 30th days i live in Korea… i dont have any special intention to make entry today but lately i was busy with trip and presentation. I just came back from Yeong-wol, Kangwon-do last Sunday and today i had my first Korean Language presentation. So only tonight i have time to upload my blog… for those who r waiting for my entry, sorry for the long wait…
So what i’m gonna share today? I think most of my blog reader are curious about my life in Korea. How’s the weather, food, shopping, friends and other question… ok let’s discuss it one by one…
the first thing that i wanna share is about the weather.. y? bcoz the weather here is really different from Malaysia.. as I said before when the first I came here the weather was 0 degree… after a month there’s not many changes.. the highest temperature i was experience was 17 degree. Lately it’s always raining, so u can imagine how cold it can be… my nail always hurt n numb bcoz it’s too cold… i dont know what’s wrong with the weather but I believe the reason is start with HUMAN…
2nd things is about food… as muslim I admit it’s REALLY hard to eat halal meat here… if u rent a room or house, then u can cook. if u stay at hostel like me and cant cook, believe me u will be a good vegetarian… for the first 2 week i only eat instant noodles and biscuit that i brought from Malaysia. this because i cant speak Korean well so i cant order food without meat here. but after i got some fren who can speak korean well, 2 or 3 days in a week i will eat at school canteen.. it’s not like i’m choosy about food but there’s a day when all the menu have meet.. yes, maybe i still can buy it then just eat the rice with kimchi… the rest of the food i give to my non-muslim fren.. the good things about korean restaurant is they never mixed ur rice with other food except bimbimbab… but at school canteen bimbimbab dont have meet.. so i can eat it ^__^
the next things is about friend… seriously we have to start the conversation first or u will have no fren at all… i’m learning here how to break the ice when u meet other person for the first time… and i keep learning this.. maybe my school is foreign study school so i met a lot foreigner… it’s kinda easy for me since they can speak eng.. but some fren from japan and mongolia they cant even understand english, so i really have a GREAT time trying to speak korean with them. sometimes i feel thankful to this kind of friend because they make me practice my korean or else i will comfortably using my broken english and never practice korean. For making friend with korean, again my school have a lot of foreigner so korean here are less foreigner-phobia syndrom. i have 2 or 3 korean fren that i know learning malay language here (since my school have malay-indon department)… all of them can speak english well so again there’s no need for me to practice my korean.. really bad huh? but when i have problem with my korean language, they give me a big help (that’s why my presentation today was so good, more than my sonsaengnim expected!:P) so dont be afraid to make fren with korean… if u go eat with korean or any other foreigner, just explain to them why u cant eat certain thing. they totally understand n willingly help u order the food.. that’s what i experienced here…
it’s not complete in girl’s life without shopping… before i came to korea i read some of my seniors blog. they advised me to think 1000won=RM1. at first i dont understand and when the first time i came here, i will convert everything i bought to MYR.. OMG, i spend more than MYR100 perday.. even i was working before i never spend more than MYR50 for my basic things. but here it’s normal because korean currency is higher than malaysia. so if i keep converting to ringgit i will not buy anything. so i follow my senior advice… another thing that i learned from my senior, record all ur expenses, so u will know how much money u have and where u spend ur money… if i do this since 10 years ago, i think i already a rich woman now!
regarding my daily activities, i only have 4 class per day from 9AM until 1PM. there’s nothing much i do during the weekdays except study and do homework at coffee shop, meeting new friend and watching drama at night. but weekend is my busiest day. either going out with fren or follow the school trip. usually me and malaysian friends and some other country friend will go to famous place around Seoul. the farthest did i went is Guro, almost one hour by subway just because i’m craving over some malay food… even it is indonesian restaurant, but for me n some malaysian fren, it’s better than nothing. i’m kinda thankful to my school bcoz they prepared a lot of activities for foreigner to understand korean culture and it’s always free. last week i went to kangwon-do for king danjong festival, this week i will join the bamboo festival and next week i will go to ceramic museum. i forgot to tell my korean language class also prepared field trip for the student. last friday we go to Lotte Folks Museum to learn about korean people history… this kind of activities make me eager to learn korean fastly so that i can undertsand what happened there and i can make friend with local people like my friend did…
i think that’s all for now.. what i can conclude here my korean’s life is really adventurous and fun! u will never get boring unless u just sitting in ur room… everyday I experienced new thing and always learn something… for those who wanna see the photo u can see it at my facebook… sorry too lazy to upload it here… so till then..
